Five Local Bookshops Worth A Visit

A little local round up…

The day are getting longer, which is a relief, but the evenings still seem like they need to be spent by a fire being cosy. The TV isn’t really cutting it at the moment so a little inspiration to fill your evenings with reading instead.

This is a roundup of five local book shops which are worth a visit for their own unique reasons and actually most of them offer a subscription which helps give variety and introduces you to different authors that you might not have thought to pick up.

Toppings and Co, Central Edinburgh

This fabulous shop inspires you in everyway. I never want to leave it when I pop in and there always seems to be another room to explore. They run some amazing events and are brilliant at recommendations. If you decide to sit down and enjoy some of books then they will come round and offer you a free cup of tea.

The Mainstreet Trading Company, St Boswells

Why wouldn’t you want to go and visit when you’ve got a bookshop, a deli, a café, and a homeware shop all in one place. You never leave empty handed, but it is a lovely place to spend a morning wandering.

Night Owl Books, East Linton

Run by Rebecca, this little gem is in the cute village of East Linton home to Bostock Bakery and The Mart. Grab a coffee and have a chat with Rebecca who will have you wanting at least five books on your wishlist.

The Portobello Book Shop, Portobello

Books and beach are the theme here and that’s the order to do them in. This smashing book shop has a good reputation from those in the know and is certainly on my list to go and visit.

Ginger and Pickles, Stockbridge

This divine independent book shop for children is tucked away on St Stephen’s Street. Ranging from babies to young adults this store is working on an events programme and hopes to work closely with schools.

Hope these have been helpful and you enjoy visiting them
