Winter Wellness
Mood Boosting Ideas
We have put together a few simple ideas to help keep you in a good frame of mind during those winter months. Obviously, we’d all love to be going on a winter holiday, but sometimes that just isn’t an option so here are a few things you can try and are not too difficult to action.
Get Moving: Have a go at some activities like indoor yoga, dance, or even swimming, indoor or outdoor (if you are brave enough).
Nourish Your Body: Focus on hearty, nutritious meals. Pop to your local farm shop and grab some seasonal vegetables like squash, root veggies, and greens to add to your meals.
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, herbal teas, or warm broths to stay hydrated in the dry winter air. This is something I always struggle with in Winter so I will be working hard on this.
Practice Mindfulness: Why not try meditation or deep breathing exercises to help manage stress and improve mental clarity. Its something that is always on my list so I MUST do this.
Get Outside: Spend time outdoors during daylight hours to benefit from that vitamin D or consider a light therapy box to combat seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
Establish a Sleep Routine: Aim for consistent sleep patterns and create a cozy sleep environment with warm blankets and calming scents.
See Friends: Have a dinner party, meet a friend for coffee, or go for a walk together. Seeing people in person always gives you a boost.
Try a New Hobbies: Pick up a new hobby or revisit an old one, whether it’s knitting, baking, or reading.
Volunteer or Give Back: Engage in community service or help those in need to boost your mood and sense of purpose.
Practice Gratitude: Keep a gratitude journal to reflect on positive aspects of your life, especially during darker days.
Some of these you may already be doing, but even the action of ticking them off the list will help boost your mood.
