Restaurant Review

Barry Fish

This restaurant has been on my list for a while so I am so glad that we had an excuse to finally go - my birthday!

It was a Wednesday night and when we arrived there was a nice gentle buzz about the place. We were greeted by a super friendly waiter and then looked after him very attentively all evening. Nothing was too much trouble and he explained the dishes beautifully and made us want them all.

Barry Fish Team

We had a some foccacia to start with with some Mull Cheddar Bignets, and the Scallop dish, which honestly melted in your mouth. I was only allowed the tiniest taste as someone wouldn’t share..

For main course, we all got something different so that we could try as much as possible. Between us we had The Big Pie, The Lobster dish and the Finnan Haddie.

Each dish was delicious in its own way. The Shelled Half Lobster, smoked fish agnolotti, brown butter sauce, pickled fennel was the perfect blend of sweet and salty if you know what I mean, and was gone within an instant. The Finnan Haddie was a twist on a Scottish classic dish and again was gobbled up. The Big Pie was vast and in actual fact Will was defeated! Very rare I have to say.

Just as we had finished our main dishes Barry popped over to say hello, which was really nice. Lovely to catch up and hear how the restaurant is going. It has been open a year now and he is marked it with a night cooking aboard The Fingal, which is just a hope, skip and jump from the restaurant on The Shore.

It’s an amazing restaurant with a delicious menu and a great team behind it.
